I'm a 20 year old part blogger, part reporter, part fan. Hockey is my thing, specifically the Leafs and Marlies. I'm also rather odd and talk about a lot of stupid stuff. Expect a bunch of random pics (often hockey), and a lot of rants that I can't really use for my sites. I'm sarcastic and a partial egomaniac, signed photos of myself available upon request. Lets talk.

If you didn’t see this yesterday, I rant about @WheelingProbs, what it stands for, how it doesn’t even line up for what it stands for, and such.

Doing all 20 questions, screw it.

1: Do you have a story about a time you met a hockey player? (Tell it if you do)
I once tweeted that I’d deke out Colby Armstrong in a street hockey game. He replied back let me know that I was a pigeon who had zero chance, and that he would choke slam me. After realizing I was pretty well known on twitter myself, he DMed me to confirm that I knew he wouldn’t really choke slam me. Anyway, to the meeting part, about 8 months later I printed out the tweet, went to a signing he was at, and got him to sign it. He remembered it and showed off the tweet and told the story. It was hilarious. The tweet is framed.

2: Write a small paragraph about your favorite Russian hockey player.
Pavel Bure is tied for my all time favourite hockey player. His agility, anticipation, and acceleration in my opinion made him the single most exciting player to watch of his generation, if not ever. There were better players, but his ability to take off was so unique. I wish he was in his prime or even barely healthy after the lockout, the wide open style would’ve been perfect for him.

3: Do you play hockey?
I’ve never been in an organized league. Can barely skate. I do play ball hockey though, and am one of those kids who knows a lot of tricks, has one really good shot (my snapper), and makes people think he’s better than he is with tricky looking moves at drop-in games and such. I want to get my skating in check this year so I can give ice hockey a shot. I owe it to my Canadian blood.

4: Patrick Kane comes up to you in a bar and starts hitting on you, how do you react to him?
I get very offended at the fact that he thinks I’m a 5/10 female. Instead of yelling at him, I throw two dimes at his face.

5: What/Who got you into watching hockey, and how old were you?
My dad. Probably reaaaally young, like a year old. My first memory is watching one of my uncles play street hockey so definitely before that.

6: Have you ever gotten a reply/RT (or any interaction whatsoever) from a hockey player on Twitter? Who was it from & what did they say?
Plenty. The Armstrong story I said before was the best one. Also, Doug Gilmour and I have an inside joke about “Can I have a RT” people. There’s also a few others from me naturally responding to players (I’m not the ZOMG U PLAY type).

7: Opinion on Roberto Luongo?
Can the Leafs just make this trade happen? His contract sucks but he’s still a brilliant netminder. As someone who has the Canucks as their #2 team though, he has to go. Corey just makes more financial sense moving forward.

8: Who will be the 2012 Stanley Cup champs? The LA Kings or New Jersey Devils?
The Kings, but I’d like to be proven wrong (Kovalchuk is my fav player on either team). The LA core is just so deep that I can’t see them losing.

9: Who do you think is the best player in the NHL, and why do you think so?
Crosby. Concussions be damned, that’s the answer. He’s got all-time level vision, elite shooting ability in all facets, is a leader, can play defensively, doesn’t shy away from physicality. He’s on another level from the rest.

10: How many NHL games have you been to? Have any memorable moments that happened at a game you went to?
Probably about 15. Leafs season opener this year was sick. Also went to Gilmours first game visiting Toronto as a Devil, which was big for me as a Gilmour fan at my young age.

11: Who is your least favorite player on your favorite team?
Probably not in my best interests to answer this question.

12: Say you were the GM of your favorite team, and had to make 1 trade, what would it be? (Who would you trade, who would you want to get in return?)
I’d listen to Montreal’s demands for Carey Price, and if Phil Kessel wasn’t involved, I’d nod my head and do it.

13: When you first started watching hockey, who was your favorite player? Who is it now?
When I first started, my favourites were Pavel Bure, Doug Gilmour, and Patrick Roy. They’re still my all times. Now, Alexander Ovechkin, John Tavares, and Carey Price.

14: Do you like any other NHL teams besides your (current) favorite?
The Canucks are my #2, and the Sabres/Capitals bounce around 3/4 a lot. Chose them all by my 8th birthday.

15: Favorite OHL player?
Yakupov’s gonna go far.

16: Who is one NHL player that you haven’t met yet, that you would love to meet?
Probably Grabovski. I get a Bryzgalov vibe from him

17: If you could play a prank on a player of your choice, what would the prank be, and who would you want to prank?
I’d tell John Tavares he was traded to the Leafs and named captain, just to see him cartwheel followed by faceplant when he realizes I’m kidding.

18: Player with the best abs?
Me.

19: Describe Don Cherry in only one word.
Colourful.

20: If you could bring back one player from your team whose gotten traded, (and still currently in the NHL) who would it be?
Tuukka Rask. Build from the net out.

To put it short: I don’t like WheelingProbs or the stereotype it projects. Also this video may suck

I realized something today – over the course of the playoff run, while I’ve been updating the social media inter-blag-verse on the unique contraption pictured above, I’ve never really introduced you all to it. What you see above hangs on a door in the Toronto Marlies dressing room, and is used to track the playoff run as the team goes along. If they win a game, a puck is obtained and placed into the plaque to signify it. There’s a row for every series, culminating with the one on top – the Calder Cup Finals.
After three rounds, there are eleven (three instead of four in the first round) pucks in the plaque. With just four more to go, here’s 11 points (plus a pre-bonus) to think about heading into the last series.
