I'm a 20 year old part blogger, part reporter, part fan. Hockey is my thing, specifically the Leafs and Marlies. I'm also rather odd and talk about a lot of stupid stuff. Expect a bunch of random pics (often hockey), and a lot of rants that I can't really use for my sites. I'm sarcastic and a partial egomaniac, signed photos of myself available upon request. Lets talk.

Fantasy Hockey Problems

“My team has been unstoppable for weeks! Thanks to players getting healthy, smart picking, and good signings, I’m going into the finals with Crosby, Giroux, Lundqvist, Karlsson, Gaborik, Kopitar, Radulov, and tons more talent! In fact, Crosby and Radulov are my only two players ranked under 100!”

“My team is okay, except-“

“Stop talking, you don’t stand a chance against me!”

“I have six Red Wings. Detroit faces Columbus two times this week.”

“….I hate this f***ing league”

talk about the red wings!

Controversial opinion: The Detroit Red Wings are the ultimate definition of a true NHL dynasty. Not the 80’s Islanders or Oilers. Not the original six Habs (they kinda had that Quebecois advantage anyway). The Wings, 1991-present.

Its one thing to have 4 or five great years, dominating for that time, but being weak before it and burnt out after. This has happened a lot.

The Wings however, just look at them. They left the Dead Things era in the very early 90s and never looked back. They’ve won cups, looked like they might fall off, had the new generation come in, and spark new life. It’s amazing. And its through brilliant management - scouting out guys that truely fit them, that scream “I’m a Red Wing”. Like, the past three years, I found myself saying that at every pick they made in the draft, and I’m sure this isn’t a recent trend.

And the best part? They let their kids develop. Rushing? Hah, 3 years in the minors and then we’ll worry about things. Look at Jimmy Howard, if a goalie spent that much time on the farm in Toronto or Montreal he would’ve been written off.

There’s no stopping them, really. This new wave will probably work out just like the last one, and we’ll be talking about the Wings finally getting old again in five years, when the next kids are ready. It’s insane. And I’m insanely jealous.
