13. First NHL Game?

I went to three games in 1996-97. I forget which is first, but I’ll go with the most memorable (if I’m recalling this correctly) - Steve Sullivan grew up friends with one of my uncles. My uncle told Steve I wasn’t too happy about his being a Leaf because it meant Gilmour left. In response, I got a tour of Maple Leaf Gardens, met a bunch of the Leafs and management, had lunch with Sullivan, and got tickets to Gilmour’s return game to Maple Leaf Gardens. I’d like to think that was my first, it was certainly the best one.

14. First AHL Game?

December 27th, 2007. Toronto Marlies vs. Grand Rapids Griffins. Friend of mine had extra tickets. Justin Pogge had a shutout. Jeremy Williams was my player to watch. Probably should’ve paid more attention to Jimmy Howard and Kyle Quincey and a bunch of other Griffins.

Went to one more game that year. Then two in 08/09. Suddenly 15 in 09/10. 35 in 10/11. Now I cover the Marlies. Fun stuff.

15. If you could become a season ticket holder for one-five teams who would it be and why?

Even if I didn’t like the Leafs, they’d be first. That means I’d be mad rich.

The Canucks second for being my #2 team.

Then the Sabres, then the Capitals. Probably the Jets for 5 but maybe the Habs, it’s an atmosphere pick on that one.

16. Who do you think would be the first player on Tumblr?

They won’t be a current NHLer. It’ll be a kid who created it at 14 and kept posting into the future.
